ETW STAFFMumbai

Scoot, the new Singapore Airlines backed, low cost carrier, landed into Sydney for its inaugural service on June 5, 2012. Operating a daily Boeing 777 aircraft with just under 400 seats per flight, signalling the start of services to its first international destination. Bangkok in Thailand and Tianjin in China are expected to be added later this year.

The Singapore Airlines’ budget offshoot, promising fares 40 per cent below those of full-service airlines, may spark a fare war on the Singapore-Sydney route – but it will be good news for Australian tourism and for New South Wales.

Scoot’s low fares will also challenge Jetstar and Asian budget rival AirAsia X.
