Chios Regional Unit, part of the North Aegean region of Greece, has appointed Sampoorna Country Promotions as their representative in India. The regional unit consists of the islands of Chios (the capital), Psara, Oinousses and some smaller uninhabited islands in the Aegean Sea and is a beach destination with history and culture, and picturesque villages as its highlights. As part of its destination marketing mandate, Sampoorna will organise road shows in India, conduct meetings with the travel trade, organise cultural events, participate in major tourism fairs, and promote the destination through various media channels, and conduct other Public Relations (PR) activities.

“It is an unexplored destination for the Indian Outbound and has great potential for Leisure, both Free Individual Travellers (FITs) and groups, and incentive segments. A niche destination, this Northern region of Greece can be easily clubbed with Turkey, especially Istanbul, for a two-to-three-night stay as there is good connectivity from Istanbul. Also, it is a good value-for-money destination as even five-star hotel rates are lower compared to European destinations and even Turkey,” stated Vijesh Thakker, CEO, Sampoorna Country Promotions. He further said that their focus will be on educating the Indian travel trade about the region and its offerings and tapping the metros. “We plan to organise FAM trips for the Indian travel trade to get a first-hand experience of the region and also organise road shows sometime between April and June next year with suppliers from the Chios Regional Unit. Overall, Greece is quite keen to tap new markets like India, China and Japan,” informed Thakker.

Sampoorna Country Promotions is a subsidiary of KV Tours & Travels.
