Tourism and Events Queensland has appointed Quay Marketing Consulting (QMCPL) to represent the organisation in India for the next three years.

India is one of Queensland’s fastest growing international markets with the state welcoming around 37,000 visitors in the year to September 2013, an increase of 22 per cent on the year prior. Tourism and Events Queensland, group executive marketing, Steve McRoberts said QMC would play a vital role in showcasing Queensland’s destinations to the emerging market of India. The decision follows an open tender process.

“QMC submitted a comprehensive proposal for representation, demonstrating a proven track record of strategic planning to promote Queensland as Australia’s premier holiday destination to the Indian traveller,” said McRoberts.

“All applications were of a high standard and I’d like to thank Spice Travel for their great service over the past six years. “The focus for Quay in the year ahead will be to partner with our key industry stakeholders to grow arrivals into Queensland and increase the length of stay by showcasing diversity of experiences Queensland offers”

Commenting on being appointed as India Marketing representation company, Ryna Sequeira, marketing’s director, Quay, said, “It’s an honour for us to work with Tourism and Events Queensland. We aim to take the destination to all new heights with our expansion plans and strengthen our level of trade servicing across key cities in India as well, we will seek to leverage on exciting media opportunities such as the 2015 Cricket World Cup to enhance consumer awareness of Queensland as a premier holiday destination. We look forward to a fruitful relationship with Tourism and Events Queensland.”
