MakeMyTrip survey reveals holiday preferences of Indian youth

ETW STAFFNew Delhi

Given a choice, a majority of young men would opt for a Hangover movie-style all-boys holiday while more girls prefer an exotic road-trip with their girl-gang compared to shopping. These are some of the interesting findings from a recent survey undertaken by MakeMyTrip. The participants were targeted on the basis of gender and age, to respond to preferred destination for an all-boys/all-girls and mixed-gender group holidays.

Elaborating on the survey results Mohit Gupta, chief business officer-Holidays, MakeMyTrip said, “The internet has enabled easy travel-planning and booking, making travel the preferred activity of self-expression for many Indians. An increasing number of people now travel to soak in new experiences and cultures. Indian youth have emerged as enthusiastic travellers who are open to experimenting with their destinations and itineraries. They make independent trips with their friends and colleagues, travel to different domestic and international locations on occasions like birthdays, pre-wedding shopping and celebration trips, and also undertake activity-based holidays such as adventure holidays, shopping trips, music festivals and budget road-trips. In an endeavor to understand this segment and their decision-making process better, MakeMyTrip recently conducted a survey on their most preferred holiday-destinations and the factors influencing their choices. The results are quite insightful and we will utilise these to build compelling holiday products targeted for this segment.”

Partying seems to be at the top of the agenda when boys plan a trip with their buddies. No wonder, over two-thirds of the respondents voted for Las Vegas and Goa are their top choices for an all-guys holiday destination.
