Lavasa to host Martial Arts Fest

Lavasa, the planned hill city in Maharashtra will play host to India’s largest Martial Arts Fest from April 18 – 20, 2014. Leading Indian and international exponents of various martial art forms like Chitah Yajnesh Shetty (president of Chitah JKD Global Sports Federation and Empty Hand Combat India and instructor to over 200 Bollywood and Hollywood stars), Sifu Cosmo Zimik (director of Empty Hand Warrior – Juveniles Mentor Programme, USA and Coach for Olympic Games, renowned trainer of Law Enforcement agencies, Military personnel) will lead a team of martial art instructors from six countries and 14 Indian states.

Lavasa is staging the three day fest-cum-workshop in partnership with Chitah JKD Global Sports Federation which operates 31 centres across 22 states in India. The objective of the festival is to promote Lavasa as a sporting destination. A number of academies catering to rowing, hockey, tennis, badminton and golf are slated to open at Lavasa over the next few years.

The core idea of the Martial Arts Fest is to gather discerning groups (who are into martial arts or aspire to learn) and conduct workshops, exhibits for them at Lavasa. The fest is three dimensional with; Martial Arts festivity, which will entail décor, graphical tours, walk-through, exhibition and skill showcasing for martial arts enthusiasts; Professional seminars and workshops which will entail professional shows experts, programme on self defense like kick boxing, karate, Jeet Kune Do and Kalaripayattu to name a few; and children’s camp for learners.

More than 125 participants are attending the fest where practitioners will showcase their skills in various martial art forms. The festival will cater to martial art practitioners offering a platform for talent showcasing. It will also have workshop and seminars for the beginners and enthusiasts who are keen to know more about martial art as well as participate in brief sessions. Participants will get certification on successful completion of workshops and seminars.
