Dubai-based Lama Tours has entered into an alliance with Indigo Airlines and Hyatt Hotels to promote Dubai in the India market. In a unique initiative, Lama has announced what it calls its ‘first flight’ to Dubai during Ramadan. The flight, operated by Indigo Airlines from New Delhi will be launched in August. Speaking about this initiative, Kulwant Singh, MD, Lama Tours, said, “Dubai has grown as a great leisure destination and we are now seeing an increasing demand for a combination of city five star and luxury hotels. Lama has taken all the seats on board this particular flight to Dubai. Since this first flight will be from North India, we will naturally be looking at promoting it with travel agents from this region.” Lama would be considering launching this flight from other cities like Mumbai.

Speaking about the significance of launching this flight during Ramadan, Singh added, “This flight will allow people to experience Dubai during Ramadan. Going forward, each flight we operate will have different kinds of inclusions depending on the time operated from India. The volume of travel from India to Dubai has been increasing every year, growing at 25-33 per cent. We are here to cater to every class of traveller. India’s purchasing power had increased so much that we have segmented the business accordingly. We expect a 30-35 per cent growth rate from India. The recent decline in the Indian Rupee has affected things, but we hope we can change this.”
