Kenya conducts 3 city road show for tier II cities

Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) is focusing to expand its promotion to tier-II cities and on showcasing Kenya as an adventure, romantic and luxury destination. The tourism board concluded its travel trade interaction across three cities, namely Jaipur, Chandigarh and Lucknow, which collectively witnessed participation of Indian travel trade delegates.

For the first time KTB has conducted travel trade interaction in all these three cities. With India being one of the most prominent markets, the tourism board aspires to expand the diverse product offering of the destination through a gamut of integrated destination marketing initiatives.

Jacinta Nzioka, director- marketing, Kenya Tourism Board, said, “India is a very important market for us. Our motive is to interact with the travel trade and emphasise our interest in the Indian market. We will continue to aggressively market our products in the Indian market through various initiatives such as online training programme, joint ventures, one-to-one interactions with the travel trade, cinema campaigns and media FAM trips.”

In 2012 over 61,275 Indian tourists travelled to Kenya. India is the fourth largest source market with 6.9 per cent market share till June 2013. Since 2009 India has registered a growth of 68 per cent in the number of tourist’s receipts. It aims to achieve 2,00,000 annual tourist arrivals from India in the next five years.

Nzioka added, “The increase in the air capacity will further boost the number of visitor’s from India. It is a country which has everything for everyone. With the encouraging growth in the last year we look forward to upward increase in the number of tourists for the coming year.”
