World Travel & Tourism Council

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has announced that Dr Michael Frenzel, chairman of the executive board, TUI AG, will take over as chairman from April 20, 2012. Dr Frenzel has been a member of the WTTC executive committee since 2000 and a leading member since he joined in 1999. He will serve as chairman for a two-year term. Dr Frenzel joined Preussag AG in 1988 and was appointed executive chairman in 1994.


Cleartrip

Cleartrip has appointed Samyukth Sridharan as president and chief operating officer. In this role, he will be responsible for providing leadership across the businesses. Prior to Cleartrip, he was at the helm of sales and marketing for over 18 years across a diverse range of industries spanning FMCG, insurance, advertising and aviation. Most recently, he served as chief commercial officer at Spicejet.


eRevMax International

eRevMax International has appointed Michael McCartan as CEO as it restructures for new growth targets. McCartan was hired as chief operating officer (COO) in September 2010. Prior to joining eRevMax, he was VP Product Management at Pegasus Solutions where he was responsible for the development and management of all distribution services including UltraDirect, UltraSwitch and ODD.


Metrojet

Metrojet has appointed Lilian Chin as director of finance. Chin will be overseeing all aspects of the finance function, including strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, investment evaluations, tax advisory, treasury management as well as the overall financial controllership.

Chin is a FCPA, FCCA and ACMA holder with more than 20 years of experience gained from both audit and commercial organisations. She was based in London for over 10 years, in an audit capacity at the start of her career, then came to Hong Kong in 1994 to further her professional practice in Ernst & Young and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu respectively.


Etihad Airways

Etihad Airways has appointed Philip Lewin as general manager for Germany, effective 10 April 2012. Lewin has almost twenty years’ experience working in the airline
industry, and joins the UAE flag carrier from American Airlines, where he has recently held the position of country manager India.


TripAdvisor

TripAdvisor has appointed Jenny Rushmore as director, responsible travel. In the newly-created role, Rushmore is charged with making environmentally-responsible travel more accessible to the environmentally-conscious consumer.

Rushmore joins TripAdvisor from Procter & Gamble where she held the role of global sustainability leader for the beauty and grooming business unit. Prior to that, she held several senior positions in brand management, including the role of global brand manager for Gillette Venus.


Tourism Australia

Tourism Australia has made the following changes to its international division for the US and Continental Europe international postings. Vice president, The Americas for Tourism Australia, Daryl Hudson, based in Los Angeles, has advised the national tourism agency that he will not renew his contract which expires in late 2011.

Regional general manager, Continental Europe, Katherine Droga, based in Frankfurt, after four years in the role, will be returning to Tourism Australia’s corporate HQ in Sydney. Both Hudson and Droga will remain in their postings under a transition process as a search is conducted and completed for new appointments.


Silversea Cruises

Silversea Cruises has appointed Cecilia S Blevins to the position of corporate and incentive sales director. Based at the company’s Fort Lauderdale office, she will be responsible for developing the line’s corporate and incentive business and strengthening relationships with meeting and incentive travel partners throughout parts of the United States and all of Latin America. Prior to joining Silversea, Blevins held management positions in corporate and incentive sales at Windstar Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line.


Sabre Travel Network

Global travel technology company Sabre Travel Network has appointed Frank Bachér to lead its online business in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), with additional country responsibilities for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Nordic region. He starts with Sabre on June 1, 2012.

Bachér joins Sabre from the InteractiveMedia group at Deutsche Telekom AG, where he served as managing director, sales and marketing. Prior to that, Bachér was chairman of the board and managing director for eBay Advertising Group.


Hotels.com

Hotels.com has appointed Adam Jay as vice president, Global Product. Jay will be responsible for overseeing the development and roll out of the Hotels.com
product on a global basis including enhancements to the desktop website and the full suite of mobile touch points including apps for the iPhone, iPad and Android devices. He joins Hotels.com from Travelport, where he spent four years as VP strategy & business transformation.
