TripAdvisor has announced the appointment of Deepesh Saxena as territory manager, Business Listings for India. In this role, Saxena will oversee the India region of TripAdvisor for Business, including TripAdvisor Business Listings. He will also be responsible for building brand awareness and engaging hoteliers throughout the region to maximise their potential through a better understanding of the TripAdvisor product. Prior to this, he was working for Yatra.com.


Destination NSW

Destination NSW has announced the appointment of Paramjit Bawa as the manager of its new India office based in Mumbai. In his new role, he will work closely with airlines, travel trade, media and business event organisers to keep Sydney and NSW top-of-mind for holiday visitation. He will also be representing Business Events Sydney to promote Sydney as a preferred destination for meetings, incentive, travel reward programme, conferences and our key exhibitions.”


Celebi Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India

Celebi Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India has announced the appointment of Rajesh Goel as chief executive officer. In the new role, he will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical direction for further enhancing the business operations in India. He will report to Atilla Korkmazoglu, president, Çelebi Global Ground Handling and Business Development. Prior to joining, Celebi Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India, he was associated with Elite Integrated Services in Dubai as a Consultant. He started his career as a management trainee with Gateway Services, where he subsequently moved up to the position of general manager, project logistics (Middle East & Africa).


IATA

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has announced that Qantas Airways CEO and managing director Alan Joyce has assumed his duties as chairman of the IATA board of governors. Joyce succeeds KLM president and CEO Peter Hartman. Prior to that, he spent over 15 years in leadership positions at Qantas, Ansett, and Aer Lingus. Joyce is the third Qantas CEO to serve as chairman of IATA’s board of governors, following most recently James Strong (1999-2000). IATA also announced that the board of governors appointed Richard Anderson, CEO of Delta Air Lines, to serve as chairman from June 2013, following Joyce’s term.


Avis India

Avis India has appointed Karunesh Arya as chief operating officer (leasing). He has over 19 years of experience in managing businesses related to auto finance, car rentals and leasing.


PATA

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has appointed Pairoj Kiatthunsamai as chief financial officer, effective July 31, 2012. Kiatthunsamai will work at the association’s headquarters in Bangkok and will be responsible for all financial and fiscal management of PATA and the PATA Foundation. Before joining PATA, he was assistant vice president (financial planning and analysis) at Generali Insurance, Thailand.

Sheila Leong has been appointed as chief operating officer. She joined PATA in April 1998 as director of Northeast Asia in the Association’s Singapore regional office. In 2000, she assumed the role of director – events and relocated to PATA’s headquarters in Bangkok. Since then she has played a lead role in organising and implementing all PATA events as head of the events department.


MakeMyTrip

Amit Saberwal has been appointed as chief business officer, international markets for MakeMyTrip.

Sanket Atal has taken over as chief technology officer at MakeMyTrip to head technology development and support teams.


Emirates

Emirates has announced the appointment of Vikram Paul, Neeraj Newton and Mohammed Abdul Safi as sales managers for Maharashtra, Delhi and Andhra Pradesh respectively. KP Venugopal has been re-appointed as sales manager for Karnataka, while Mohammed Asif Ali has been named as sales manager for Tamil Nadu.
