Jet Airways and Alitalia enter into a codeshare pact

Jet Airways and Alitalia have announced the expansion of their codeshare partnership offering guests enhanced network connectivity between India and Italy and beyond to several Indian and Italian cities of touristic and business importance. The codeshare flights are on sale from July 1, 2014, for travel starting July 5, 2014. Under the expanded code share agreement, Jet Airways will place its marketing code on the Alitalia operated flights between Abu Dhabi and Rome and beyond to Bologna, Florence, Naples, Turin, Venice and Verona in Italy.

Similarly, Alitalia will place its code on Jet Airways flights operated between Abu Dhabi and Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi. Alitalia will also place its code on Jet Airways’ flights to Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Udaipur.

Gaurang Shetty, senior vice president – commercial, Jet Airways, said, “Jet Airways has constantly innovated to set new benchmarks and our codeshare agreement with Alitalia is another distinctive travel solution. India and Italy share strong ties, ranging across leisure, business tourism and commercial trade. The agreement with Alitalia is a further step in Jet Airways’ strategy of growing on the global marketplace. We are confident that this new expanded arrangement would mutually benefit Jet Airways and Alitalia and add value to the travelling experience of the airlines guests.”

Giancarlo Schisano, deputy general director- business, Alitalia, said, “We are pleased to strengthen our cooperation and we look forward to expanding the codeshare agreement with Jet Airways, which is, for Alitalia, an important partner for reaching India. This agreement will certainly strengthen the role of Alitalia in the development of traffic flows, both leisure and business, between Italy and India. Alitalia continues its strategy of developing commercial agreements with major international companies, with the aim to offer to its customers an increasingly larger number of destinations, routes and frequencies around the world”.
