MP Tourism to mark foundation day today

Madhya Pradesh Tourism celebrates its foundation day today. This is the 37th year of the state tourism board’s establishment. The event will kickstart with a panel discussion on MP Tourism – The Road Ahead, followed by honouring the top performers across tourism categories viz hotels, restaurants, staff, tourism entities, guides, workers etc. An exhibition  showcasing MP Tourism will be held in the Ravindra Bhavan premises. Another attraction of the day would be a food festival on regional delicacies of the state.

The state is aiming to promote and market its new tourism product namely Caravan Tourism, both in the national as well as the international market. From heritage tourism, wildlife tourism to adventure tourism, the state has chalked out plans and new products in the coming year. According to Om Vijay Choudhary, chief general manager (marketing & operations), MP Tourism, “The Corporation is keen to develop adventure tourism in the state besides water sports in the main water bodies of the state like Tawa, Gandhi Sagar, Bargi and Ban Sagar. The Corporation is also focused on promoting film tourism.”

Since the past two years MP has become a choice of the Bollywood producers for film shooting with movies like Peepli Live, Rajneeti, Aarakshan being shot in the state. As a part of its aggressive promotion mission, roadshows are held in various parts of the country time and again.

Major plans are also underway to develop wayside amenities across the state. 268 spots have been identified for the purpose. In its endeavour to encourage public-private investment, 455 hectares of land is available for the private investors through the Land Bank policy. The Corporation has identified a number of heritage properties for investors to develop into hotels and resorts.
