Sarlzburg records 52% growth in Indian arrivals

Austria has recorded an increase in inbound tourism flow from India, with the city of Sarlzburg recording 52 per cent growth in Indian arrivals in 2015 over 2014, and Innsbruck emerging as the second biggest Austrian destination among Indian travellers. Swarovski recorded 70,000 Indian visitors in eight months in 2015.

Vienna is also becomig popular as a MICE destination for Indian corporate groups. Speaking on these developments, Christine Mukharji, market manager – India, Austrian National Tourist Office said, “We have a big increase in MICE activities. To attract more MICE activities this year, our efforts are aimed at interactions with tour operators and more co-operation in visa issuance.”

“To bring in more tourists from India, we are looking at different activities. We have observed that Indian travellers now don’t travel just for sight-seing and shopping. More young people are now travelling, for whom, we are focusing more on sports activities,” she added.
