Bangalore International Airport rated GreenCo Platinum by CII

Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) has announced that it has been certified GreenCo platinum for the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (KIAB) by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in adherence to its GreenCo Rating System. The award was evaluated on criterion like implementation of water saving projects, energy efficiency, utilization of renewable energy, greenhouse gas emission, waste management, optimising the three Rs of reduce, reuse and recycle and green supply chain amongst others.

“BIAL has constantly endeavoured to create an enabling environment through its various green initiatives. Today we are not just recognised as a successful airport, but also one that has achieved its success in a responsible and sustainable manner. We see this rating from CII’s Green Building Council as a testimony towards our efforts in building an energy efficient and green airport” said Hari Marar, president – airport operations, BIAL.

The certification comes as recognition to a series of green initiatives adopted by BIAL over a period of time. Starting with its water conservation programme, adoption of biofuel for its ground operations to initiatives for utilising of solar energy for its operations.
