Arrivals on e-Tourist Visa grows 218.9% in July

The monthly statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism has revealed that 68,487 tourists arrived in India in July 2016 on e-Tourist Visa as compared to 21,476 during July 2015 registering a growth of 218.9 per cent. Number of international tourists availing e-Tourist Visa and visiting India in 2015 has been surpassed in the first six months 2016.

During January-July 2016, a total of 540,396 tourists arrived on e-Tourist Visa as compared to 147,690 in the same period last year, registering a growth of 265.9 per cent. In terms of percentage shares of top 10 source countries availing e-Tourist Visa facilities during July, 2016, the UK topped the list with 17.7 per cent, followed by the USA (16.2 per cent), France (6.7 per cent), the UAE (5.9 per cent), China (5.4 per cent), Spain (four per cent), Australia (3.9 per cent), Germany (3.5 per cent), Canada (3.4 per cent) and Netherland (2.9 per cent).

Whereas New Delhi Airport (44 per cent )ranked first in terms of percentage shares of top 10 ports in tourist arrivals on e-Tourist Visa. It was followed by Mumbai Airport (20.77 per cent), Chennai Airport (9.43 per cent), Bengaluru Airport (9.10 per cent), Kochi Airport (5.10 per cent), Hyderabad Airport (3.68 per cent), Kolkata Airport (2.50 per cent), Ahmadabad Airport (1.38 per cent), Trivandrum Airport (1.35 per cent) and Amritsar Airport (0.99 per cent).
