369.1% growth in e-Tourist visa arrivals

A total of 1,17, 210 tourists arrived in February 2016 on e-Tourist Visa as compared to 24,985 during the month of February 2015 registering a growth of 369.1 per cent.

The e-Tourist Visa facility was available, which was earlier available for citizens of 113 countries arriving at 16 Airports in India, was recently extended to citizens of 37 more countries, taking the tally to 150 countries, which is said to have catered to the growth.

The percentage share of top 10 source countries availing e-Tourist Visa facilities included: UK (27.86 per cent), followed by USA (13.85 per cent), France (8.08 per cent), Russia (6.21 per cent), Germany (4.92 per cent), China (4.91 per cent), Canada (4.21 per cent), Australia (3.64 per cent), Republic of Korea (2.15 per cent) and Ukraine ( two per cent).

Whereas, the percentage shares of top 10 ports in tourist arrivals on e-Tourist Visa included: New Delhi Airport (40.96 per cent), Mumbai Airport (20.62 per cent), Goa Airport (13.42 per cent), Chennai Airport (6.19 per cent), Bengaluru Airport (5.42 per cent), Kochi Airport (3.44 per cent), Kolkata Airport (2.50 per cent), Trivandrum Airport (1.88 per cent) Hyderabad Airport (1.86 per cent) and Ahmadabad Airport (1.58 per cent).
