Mamallapuram is a town on a strip of land between the Bay of Bengal and the Great Salt Lake, in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Mahabalipuram was the earlier name of Mamallapuram because the demon king Mahabali was killed by Lord Vishnu. The name was changed later by the king of Pallava Narashima Varman who has the title of Mamalla; the great wrestler. It’s known for its temples and monuments built by the Pallava dynasty in the 7th and 8th centuries. The seafront Shore Temple comprises three ornate granite shrines. Arjuna’s Penance is the splendor of Mamallapuram. It is a huge rock in the canvas unfolding a scene of gods and demigods, birds, beasts and natural scenery.

Hi there! So pleased to have found your site. I am from Malaysia, a total believer of travel in education and we intend to start traveling further and further starting with Europe this year. We won’t be doing all our traveling all at one go though but breaking it up into bits and bobs every year. We will get there eventually! I hope!
