India an important market for Desaru Coast, Malaysia

The Desaru Coast Island is Malaysia’s first integrated destination resort and one of Malaysia’s upcoming tourism developments. Situated on the south eastern region of Malaysia in Johor, the Desaru coast is spread over 3,900 acres and has a stretch of 17 km unspoilt beachfront.

Philip Whittaker, CEO, Integrated Theme Parks and his excellency, Zainal Azlan Mohd Nadzir, consul general of Malaysia in Mumbai, addressed the event. Whittaker said, “I’m very proud to get this project to India and we’re looking forward to doing business here. We have launched an exclusive theme and water park at the resort. We have amazing packages and deals for families as well as couples. Mumbai and Delhi are the main cities we’re looking at to promote this project, but we will set up shop even in two-tier cities.”

The 1900 acre project has four international hotels within the vicinity of the resort like The Westin Desaru Coast Resort, Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast, Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas and Aman Resort & Villas, with a view of the South China Sea. Visitors can enjoy 17 different slides, a mix of wet and dry rides and even enjoy surfing at the largest wave pool in Southeast Asia. Bike riding and other adventure sports are also available.

Whittaker further stated, “We will soon launch Bollywood theme parks to cater as much as we can to the Indian audience. Along with having a lovely sea view, the resort offers a wide range of spas and boutiques where you can pamper yourself. You can also enjoy a good sport at the massive golf parks in the resort.”

The Els Club Desaru Coast has two Championship golf courses; Ocean Course, a 27-hole course and Valley Course, an 18-hole course. There is a clubhouse, and casual dining restaurants along with The Els Performance Gold Academy.
