Giant Buddha of Leshan

The Giant BuddhaThe Giant Buddha of Leshan, carved out of a hillside in the 8th century and looking down on the confluence of three rivers, is considered the most remarkable Buddhism site in Mount Emei, Sichuan province, China. The carving stands 71 metres high, becoming the largest Buddha in the world. Mount Emei is also notable for its diverse vegetation, ranging from subtropical to subalpine forests. Some of the trees are said to be more than 1,000 years old. The place is identified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
