Rameshwaram

RameshwaramSituated in the Gulf of Mannar, Rameshwaram is an island situated at the tip of the Indian peninsula. This town is an important pilgrim centre as according to Hindu mythology, this is the place from where Lord Rama built a bridge across the sea to Lanka to rescue his wife Sita from her abductor Ravana. The Ramanathaswamy Temple is the most iconic historic landmark of the town. This temple has the longest corridor among all Hindu temples in India. Some of the famous attractions nearby are Gandhamathana Parvatham, Dhanushkodi and St. Antony’s Church at Oriyur.
