Pithoragarh is the easternmost district of Uttarakhand, neighbouring Tibet in the north and Nepal in the east. Also known as the ‘Little Kashmir’, Pithoragarh is a place of natural beauty and serenity. Pithoragarh is situated at 1,645 m and is nestled in a small valley. This valley also nestles the snow-crested peaks Nanda Devi East and West. Below these peaks lie the alpine valleys and glaciers like Milam, Ralam, Namik and Sundardunga. Pithoragarh town is also a historical landmark which was a major centre of power during the regime of the Chand Kings in Kumaon. Some of the tourist attractions include Pithoragarh Fort, Dhwaj Temple, Askot, etc. The destination also offers adventure opportunities such as trekking, rafting, camping, mountain biking and paragliding.
